history pertains only to the portion of the book covering Bent County, and was written by Charles W. Bowman,
editor and proprietor of the West Las Animas Leader, a paper he founded in 1873. When Charles wrote
this history Bent County was a very large county, encompassing portions or all of what is now Prowers,
