Martinez Cemetery Burials
Martinez Cemetery is in the Ninemile Valley near Higbee on private property and is also known as Old Higbee Cemetery. This quaint graveyard has some very nicely carved sandstone headstones, but many of them have been badly damaged over the years. There are at least 30 burials in this cemetery, but only 10 of them are readable. Martinez Cemetery is no longer in use. This cemetery was surveyed, transcribed and photographed by De and Jay Bond in January 2003.

Sleep brother sleep, till we met in the sweet by by. Your loving sister. The day is done and the darkness falls, from the wines of night, come read to me some poem, not from the grand old masters. |
